Commarin, a Palace reflecting on moat

Located in the Côte d’Or region, equidistant from Dijon and Beaune, Montbard and Semur en Auxois, and just 4 km from Châteauneuf en Auxois, Château de Commarin is one of the few châteaux in France never to have been sold or looted during the French Revolution.

Owned by the same family for over 900 years and still inhabited, Commarin offers visitors the experience of a living, inhabited Château, elegantly installed in the 18th century.

Originally a Maison Forte, Commarin was transformed into a Château Fort during the reign of the Dukes of Burgundy. In the 17th century, as French architecture changed, it was transformed into the residential château it is today.

It thus represents a remarkable architectural blend that gives it its charm and beauty, retaining its towers and magnificent 14th-century chapel among its later evolutions.

With its original furnishings, Château de Commarin reveals the lifestyle of 18th-century French nobility, preserving its traditions while remaining open to new developments.

Classified as a Historic Monument in 1949, Château de Commarin is a member of the Route Historique des Ducs de Bourgogne and the Association des Châteaux de Bourgogne Franche Comté.

The park and château are open to visitors from April 02, 2016 to November 02, 2016, every day including public holidays.

The château’s stables can be rented for receptions and weddings.
